My Reading Suggestions:

Kimberly Adkins has done it again!  Her second book, DARKENBANE: THE FOUNTAIN, is just as enchanting...as her debut, THE MEDALLION OF SOLAUS.  Her writing is smooth and overwhelmingly beautiful as she places the beginning of the story in the French Quarter of New Orleans...a masterful tale of romance, fantasy and time travel; they mingle well together and make you believe the true power of love is just beyond a grasp, or in this story, beyond a magical fountain.

M. Jean Pike has captured a chiller of a paranormal
romance in her astounding tale Heatherfield... Her vision of the late forties is incredible. Mingled with flashbacks of war, beautiful mountain scenery and a horrible car accident, the images were vividly colorful and just plain stunning. This is a unique romance that will make you laugh, chill you with “gooseflesh” and bring tears to your
eyes.

There are ghosts lingering throughout this book, not only the kind that makes you look over your shoulder to see what's behind you, but also the kind that is drudged up by the past.
M. Jean Pike is an amazing writer...truly inspiring and ultimately gifted in the art of giving her readers goose flesh. She's very quickly become one of my favorite authors, with this book, The Winds of Autumn, and her latest work, Heatherfield. I'm anxiously waiting to read her new novel coming out, In the Shadow of the Dragonfly.

Revenge is bliss when it comes to Laura, the heroine. When she loses her family, she loses herself, which is something any mother would go through. Becoming numb to everything but painful feelings of revenge, she welcomes her dark, frigid sensations and goes in search for the killers. I couldn't help but feel for her, especially with Aleman's poetic voice and exceptional knack for describing her thoughts, her feelings, and her inner struggles to find herself again.
She forms a very odd, so-to-speak, alliance with one of the investigators on the case, making the paranormal element exciting and frightening in their meetings. I dreaded when they met, but loved it at the same time.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find a love story between the two investigators, and enjoyed the tensions between them as they were always bickering, making for lighter moments in the book (or giving you a breath or two before moving on).
It's been a long while since I've read a book as descriptive as Cold Streak. Lewis Aleman's vision is so well-written that my senses were tingling throughout the entire read. His poetic voice is fantastic from beginning to end(which I absolutely loved). I can't wait to read more from Lewis Aleman.
