As a child Anna Carlson worshiped the ground he walked on, believing in his existence as a vampire wholeheartedly until the day he left her. Her bitterness grew over the years, leading her to believe he was nothing but a con. Now, to fulfill the dying wish of her father, she’s destined to find his whereabouts and help him discover a cure she knew nothing about. But when she falls in love with him all over again, she’ll find danger she will never forget.
Betrayal: The Awakening immediately captured my attention on the first page with its image invoking prose and deep emotional sentiment. Angela Steed describes the scenery, the settings, so perfectly that the reader can feel the chill of the mist on their skin on a dark night by the cold ocean.
Her characters are passionately memorable and their motivations drive them to perform in such a way that you are on the edge of your seat, just waiting to see what they will do next.
This story is an unusually innovative vampire tale and I was impressed with the society and culture Ms. Steed has developed for the background of the main character, Tristan. I understand that the author is penning a sequel to this novel and I hope I am the first one to get a look at it when it is complete. I look forward to experiencing much more of this storyline and her characters.
